Ashland Evening Lions Club

The Ashland Evening Lions is a service-based organization, meaning we serve our community. Below you can see what different committees within the Lions Club provide services.

Sight & Hearing Committee - The Sight & Hearing Committee has been volunteering with local schools to aid in the vision and hearing screening for students at Taft and Osborne Elementary School.

They also assist families who need help getting eye exams and glasses for children through the local school districts.

This Committee also collects eye glasses from donation boxes to be sent to Vosh for sorting & redistribution in other countries.

Civic Committee - The Civic Committee does highway clean up along St. Rt. 250 East.

They are also responsible for the "welcome" signs as you enter and leave Ashland.

This committee also heads a food drive for Associated Charities every Thanksgiving and Christmas to help families in need in our community.

Clowns Committee -  Our Lions Club has a Clown Group that helps to raise funds for the Club by working at area events, outings and parades.

This Committee also volunteers their times at Camp Echoing Hills providing fun & entertainment to the campers.

Salvation Army Bell Ringers Committee - This committee assists the local Salvation Army raise money for those in need in our community by ringing the bells at our local Hawkins Market. All proceeds from this volunteer work go straight to the Salvation Army and right back into our community.

Donor Organ Transport Committee - This Committee transports eyes for Akron & Columbus Hospitals.

Tents Committee - This committee rents tents for events like graduations and weddings. This is again another fund raiser for the Club.

Diabetes Awareness Committee - Lions can get involved with the Diabetes Awareness Committee. Our work supports diabetes awareness, education, control, prevention and research. A screening test can detect the possibility of diabetes. Lions often arrange for diabetes screenings in their communities.

Youth Committee - Every year the Youth Committee selects 3 candidates for college scholarships. Two of the candidates are from area High Schools and one is a relative of a Lions Club Member.

The Youth Committee also donates to local charitable organizations that aid children such as Camp Echoing Hills and The Special Olympics.

Recycling Committee - This Committee recycles anything metal. From old washers & dryers to hot water heaters, this Committee will come remove items and recycle them at no cost to the community.

This Committee also works with The Salvation Army and The City of Ashland tearing down old and abandoned homes & buildings for scrap.

Santa House Committee - This Committee puts up the Santa house every year at Kidman Park in downtown Ashland. The children can enjoy hot chocolate and get their pictures taken with Santa.

Grocery Delivery -  This Committee delivers groceries in conjunction with Cleveland Avenue Market to local residents who cannot get out on their own to shop.
